This position will be required to accurately evaluate options, and design safe, cost-effective, reliable facilities for new residential, commercial and industrial, single phase and three phase projects.
This position may also design major circuit construction and rebuild projects across a geographic area.
Due to this position’ s customer interaction and/or job complexity, the Engineering Technologist is one of the primary face-to-face contacts with key customers (both internal and external) requiring them to be self-motivated, savvy, reliable, and trustworthy.
Provide design engineering for electrical distribution projects for revenue, maintenance and system improvement projects utilizing existing standards, specifications and policies utilized to serve and meeting the needs of our customers.
These designs will be to provide electrical distribution service to residential, commercial and industrial projects. In addition, this position focuses on coordination and project management of revenue construction, maintenance, component replacements, and infrastructure.
Extensive use of work management and distribution / geospatial information systems (GIS), the ability to manage high volume work levels, adherence to distribution construction specifications and practices, and a clear understanding and application of corporate policies and procedures
Provide work orders for the construction of these designs
A two year degree in a technical discipline, such as electronics, construction, electrical, mechanical or civil engineering or technology or High School diploma with significant field experience, with progress toward two year degree requirement.
Ability to deliver strong customer focus and satisfaction
Valid driver’ s license
Have reliable vehicle for transportation to use for normal work duties and storm duty as necessary
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Basic Computer Skills and knowledge of MS Office tools, including Excel, Word, Access and Outlook
Two to four years’ experience in Engineering
An understanding of Electric Distribution materials, work procedures, and distribution system electrical design and construction practices
Proficient user of PC- based programs commonly used in analyzing, preparing and managing field work. Technical and project management skills directly related to electrical distribution engineering, construction, and operations.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across organization lines, with internal, and external customers
Knowledge of distribution construction standards & methods
