Responsible for the engineering and design of new and existing distribution and transmission substations, ranging from 4kV through 345kV.
Design project scope can range from routine equipment modifications and replacements, through and including completely new substation designs. Incumbents must manage tasks associated with multiple projects simultaneously, and ensure timely release of engineering designs.

Apply fundamental power system protection concepts, standard practices and procedures.
Create or revise electrical substation control schemes and wiring (single-line, three-line, AC, DC, SCADA, Relay and Metering).
The individual will utilize a variety of tools and techniques to complete assigned engineering, including Aspen Oneliner, Aspen Relay Database, Maximo, AutoCad, relay vendor-specific programming software, and the Microsoft Office suite.
Produce accurate project bill of material and material orders.
Create Protective Relay application documentation, settings, and control scheme designs.
Plan, coordinate and monitor the progress of individually assigned projects to meet the required schedule.
As needed, provide technical field support for projects under construction.
Establish and grow collaborative and effective working relationships with peers and customers.
Utilize good written and oral communication skills.
Exhibit the ability to effectively work with a diverse work-group representing varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Candidate should have a minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Demonstrated ability to apply engineering theories and principles.
Proficient at researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing and presenting recommendations.
Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Able to drive company vehicle to job site and external meetings

Knowledge of power system equipment, applications, capabilities, and methods of protection
Knowledge of power system analysis, including modeling, fault study and protection coordination
Experience with various Protection & Control systems used in power transmission and distribution substations
Knowledge of NERC reliability standards for Critical Infrastructure Protection and Operations & Planning, including PRC-001, -006, -023, -25
Working familiarity with Protection and Control system components, such as relays, carrier sets, RTU, instrument transformers, as well as AC and DC subsystems
Proficient in principles of project management
Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam (FE)
