Kavaliro seeks a Sr. DevOps Engineer with expertise in CI/CD automation with application security in an AWS environment.


Should have experience in the following:
  • Automate security requirements
  • Tomcat Application Server Authentication, implementing credentials
  • Experience with automation tools, Jenkins, cucumber, Chef Solo
  • AWS implementation a huge plus; AWS- access policies and IM policies

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational expectations of availability and performance.


This individual will assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology. Participation in projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle.


The individual is accountable for the following systems: Linux and Windows systems that support DS infrastructure; Linux, Windows and Application systems that support Asset Management.


  • Install and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Check application performance in Production and other environments and recommend solutions for tuning.
  • Provide support for production deployments, as needed.
  • Provide Tier III/other support for production issues.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience automating and orchestrating workloads across multiple public cloud providers
  • Automation experience with at least one configuration management system such as Chef (directly or via AWS OpsWorks), Puppet, Ansible, AWS Cloud Formation or Salt
  • Experience working at least one of the following languages: Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby, and Java
  • Proficient with GIT hub
  • Proficient in leveraging CI and CD tools to automate testing and deployment
  • Experience working in an Agile, fast paced, DevOps environment
  • Knowledge in building distributed, highly available applications


Primary qualifiers:
  • End-to-end CD pipeline, has implemented deep automated testing, production deployments, and fully scripted single purpose pipeline (e.g. Jenkins Pipeline)
  • Advanced AWS automation (automating security, Lambda, ECS, serverless in general, additional services)
  • Advanced CI/CD environment administration with configured slave pools (e.g. Docker-based slaves)
  • Auto-scaling experience using true immutable infrastructure – not just say we’ ve done auto-scaling but give me an example of where you’ ve implemented cost and efficiency savings by moving towards some type of immutable infrastructure such as AWS Auto-scaling groups, Docker containers, Serverless architecture, etc.
  • Strong Chef knowledge, both Linux and Windows, possibly Chef Solo as well as Chef Automate 6. Running Docker at scale 7. Security automation: how have you worked with your security team to introduce automation to your security process, preferably using cloud-native tool
