QUALIFICATIONS: Education, skills, and experience: Bachelor’ s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years experience as a Windows Server Administrator Current Microsoft Certification is required Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft server products is required In-depth knowledge of VMware architecture and hands-on experience with V-motion, ESX, and other virtual management software is required 3 to 5 years experience with Microsoft Clustering is required The ability to design and maintain an Active Directory infrastructure, is required Proficiency in DNS, DHCP, and other naming services, is required In-depth knowledge of disk management with SAN, NAS, and local storage with an emphasis on disk layout and performance, is required Extensive knowledge of tape backup software, is required Strong oral and written communication, organization, problem solving, critical thinking, and ability to work without direct supervision, is required Must be able to lead a team from project inception to project completion Ability to meet deadlines and mitigate risk, is required Experience with enterprise monitoring tools is required ITIL v3 and/or CISSP Certification is preferred Experience working with Linux, Aix, or UNIX is preferred. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Provide reliable and effective server systems environment for the enterprise by: Creating, configuring, and maintaining an enterprise server environment of maximum security, reliability, and performance Design, evaluate, customize, and implement new server systems technology Perform server systems monitoring and troubleshooting Analyze, design, and implement server systems upgrades and expansion accurately without adversely affecting system availability for mission critical services Evaluate, implement, maintain, and improve server systems management tools such as: System configuration, documentation, and reporting System monitoring and alerting System performance monitoring Anticipate, identify, and respond to server systems problems, outages, and events Provide support in operation, installation, configuring, and maintaining Backup Tape Library environment Establishes and maintains provisions for fault tolerance and backups on servers Provide accurate and effective server systems security measures for the enterprise by: Ensuring timely, accurate and cost efficient server systems security Provide expert server systems security consultation to upper level management Design, evaluate, customize, and implement new server systems security technology Perform server systems security analysis, monitoring, and expert troubleshooting of host-based firewalls Analyze, design, and implement server systems security changes accurately without adversely affecting service availability for the entire enterprise mission critical services Implement, maintain, and improve server system security tools, such as: Central logging Configuration archiving Central patch deployment systems Vulnerability scanning Intrusion detection Finding, testing, and implementing ways to harden systems against possible threats Identify and respond to security vulnerabilities, attacks and events Develop, review, and communicate accepted practices related to server systems security Provide technical support by: Provide 2nd level support for server systems support by answering questions, resolving problems, and implementing changes handed off from the customer support team. Enhance and maintain the existing environments capacity and capabilities Devise and implement complex server systems configuration changes accurately without adversely affecting system availability for the enterprise mission critical services. Maintain an accurate and detailed work log in our ticket tracking system for all work requests Resolve hardware, software, and service problems by opening trouble tickets with equipment vendors and service provider
