Responsible to provide specifications, procurement, engineering / documentation, and technical support associated with the design and installation of Radio Frequency (RF) equipment including digital microwave (licensed and unlicensed), VHF, UHF, 800 and 900 Mhz Voice Radio and Digital Paging Systems, Multiple Address and IP- based Radio Systems, and antenna systems to provide transport bandwidth for various utility business units.
 
Ensures cost effective design of systems that incorporate sound engineering practices, utilizing the latest in proven technology with the ultimate goal of meeting business needs and providing a reliable and efficient service to the user. • Prepares specifications for new telecommunications equipment and services; evaluates quotations and proposals to ensure that the best equipment for the job is purchased; requisitions equipment and assigns accurate accounting information.
Develops, plans and prepares engineering job packages consisting of detailed parts / equipment list, logical installation instructions, and appropriate documentation (drawings, wiring diagrams, layouts, etc.) to support an efficient installation and maintenance process.
Prepares and submits cost estimates, economic studies, and expenditure approval requests for planned projects where required.
Works effectively with other team members to successfully implement microwave and radio installations.
Monitors installations to ensure compliance with applicable FCC and FAA regulations, guidelines, standards, and procedures.
Maintains familiarity with current telecommunications technology and available facilities. Resolves complex technical problems and provides 3rd level technical assistance to the Network Operations Center (NOC), Installation, and Maintenance personnel.

Qualifications 

Experience with microwave radio systems including Alcatel- Lucent MDR 8000 series Experience with back-up power systems including UPSes and DC systems.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience with Remedy tools and processes. 
Experience with the Corporate Documentation System (Fusion).
Experience with Eltek and Emerson DC power systems.
Experience with wide area radio systems including Motorola (iDEN/SmartZone/P25) and Harris (OpenSky/P25)
Experience with transport systems including Alcatel-Lucent (DMX family), Cisco (15454 etc.), and new generation Ciena (3900 and 6500)
Experience with cellular modems including Sierra Wireless (Raven X, GX440/450)
Experience with SCADA networks. Job IT Development and Administration
