Billing and Collections Specialist

Job Description
The Billing and Collections Specialist is responsible for preparing and reviewing invoices for the company as well as following up with clients for payment towards outstanding invoices. The position will also perform a variety of other accounting and bookkeeping duties according to established policies and procedures.
Billing Specialist Responsibilities:

Review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests.

Apply retainer funds and process write-offs in accordance with firm policy.

Monitor unbilled fees and aged accounts receivable (A/R) for assigned billing attorneys.

Collaborate with attorneys to resolve aged unbilled fees and costs.

Execute complex billing processes, including split-party billing, multiple matter discounts, and preparation of electronic invoices.

Manage a high volume of monthly billing efficiently and accurately.

Review billing data and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy.

Research and resolve billing inquiries and discrepancies.

Create and distribute monthly billing and A/R reports.

Assist attorneys with collections on outstanding accounts receivable.

Maintain and update procedural manuals as needed, and stay familiar with billing systems and processes.

Utilize billing platforms such as TyMetrix, CounselLink, Tracker, and Datacert.

Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and firm information.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of accounting/billing experience in a law firm.
- Familiarity with 3E
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
