CNC Sheet Metal Programmer

Job Description
DUTIES:
- Read and interpret prints and solid models.
- Use CAD/CAM packages to generate CNC code for punches and breaks from solid models.
- Reduce setup and punching/bending times through process improvements.
- Manage, maintain, and deploy tooling when developing programs.
- Generate setup sheets.
- Provide feedback and input into process improvement within the department.
- Write programs for new products ensuring compliance with all quality policies, solid models, prints, specifications, regulations and instructions.
- Ensure input and output department files are completed in a timely manner.
- Recommend improvements to reduce production costs while maintaining high quality standards.
- Program, organize, log, update and maintain new and existing part files to the latest rev. level.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of sheet metal experience.
- Prefer at least 3+ years operating a turret punch press.
- Prefer at least 2+ years of experience in programming in Tumpf or related CAD/CAM software.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Engineering degree a plus.
- Experience with Solid Works is required.
- Experience with Solid Works PDM is preferred.
- Must have knowledge of punch tooling.
- Must have knowledge of break tooling.
- Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is required.
- Must be able to perform basic mathematic computations such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to apply to practical situations. Shop math, geometry and trigonometry.
- Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Must be familiar with quality standards (ISO9001).
- Must be able to effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written.
- Must be able to interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and advise solutions regarding machining, work holding solutions and speeds and feeds.
- Must be able to read, understand and follow department and company policies.
- Must be able to communicate positively and effectively with employees in other departments.
- Must be able to read, understand and follow written directions.
