Data Scientist
Job Description
The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical background with demonstrated experience designing, building, and managing data systems to support complex mission objectives. This role requires expertise in data engineering, analysis, and visualization—transforming large, diverse datasets into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making within a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data repositories and data lakes to support analytics and reporting.
- Build and optimize ETL pipelines to ingest, cleanse, transform, and manipulate structured and unstructured data.
- Integrate and leverage APIs to extract, normalize, and merge data from multiple systems.
- Perform data normalization, configuration, and validation to ensure accuracy and consistency across platforms.
- Utilize Jira workflows and build Tableau dashboards to track metrics, visualize progress, and support operational decision-making.
- Apply advanced analytical methods, computational models, and visualization techniques to complex datasets.
- Collect, monitor, and analyze cloud service consumption and spend metrics, as well as cloud vendor contract performance data.
- Leverage multiple data management tools to organize and interpret large data sets in support of program objectives.
- Translate complex technical analyses into clear, actionable narratives—both visually and verbally—for diverse audiences.
- Collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment, multitasking and adapting quickly as priorities evolve.
- Develop and communicate strategic, data-driven assessments, graphics, and computational models to internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare well-structured analytic reports and briefings summarizing methods, results, and recommendations.
- Acquire, process, and refine large or complex datasets from various sources using programming and automation techniques.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related).
- Demonstrated experience in data repository design, ETL development, API integration, and data normalization.
- Experience in data visualization and creating dashboards in Tableau.
- Strong analytical skills in applied mathematics, computer programming, or data visualization.
- Proven ability to analyze and report on cloud service consumption and performance metrics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data-driven insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working collaboratively in team settings and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience working within the Sponsor’s domain or with Sponsor business operations.
- Experience supporting the Department of Defense or Intelligence Community.
- Hands-on experience with cloud computing environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
- Certifications in data science or quantitative analytics (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Certified Data Scientist, etc.).
- Reston, VA
- This position is onsite and there is no remote availability
- Candidates must have an active TS/SCI security clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph.Â
- Applicant MUST hold a permanent U.S. citizenship for this position in accordance with government contract requirements
