Kavaliro has an immediate need for a MS SQL Server Database Administrator to work with a team of software developers to help design, develop, and implement a industry leading Web-based assessment system and other new products used by early childhood educators. We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced Database Administrator who is excited about developing scalable distributed applications in MS SQL Server and is also willing to learn and apply new technologies. The candidate must be proficient in MS SQL Server administration and development. 

What will help you succeed:
  • Hands-on experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Practical experience building applications with CFML, Java, PHP.NET, C#
  • Ability to analyze complex and large amounts of data Interest in Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence
  • Experience with Subversion, BitBucket or other version control system
  • Experience with Replication and Cluster Services
  • Excellent communications skills including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences and business concepts to technical stakeholders  
  • Confidence to act quickly and decisively when the business requires such agility, and the ability to challenge norms and existing processes

What you will work on:
  • Participate in the design, development and implementation of Database Architectures for Web-based and mobile products used by early childhood educators
  • Manage the deployment and upgrade process of related application databases while also supporting and maintaining existing databases and applications
  • Determines the most effective way to increase performance as performance issues arise
  • Documents the current database environment, and new changes of database related code and provide user documentation
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Resolves technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation
  • Ensure and test all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business' s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
  • Works with QAs to review test cases and ensure proper test case coverage
  • Contributes to the continued optimization of team work processes and practices by actively participating in the Agile process.

Education:
  • A Bachelor' s degree in Computer Science, or related discipline
