Kavaliro is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support a client in Maryland.

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Systems Engineer with strong expertise in Apache NiFi, Rancher Kubernetes (RKE2), and Ceph storage to support mission-critical integration and data flow operations. This engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting complex systems in a fast-paced environment, ensuring continuous system availability and performance. The role requires flexibility to provide on-call after-hours support to resolve urgent issues that impact operations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with Apache NiFi installation, troubleshooting, and flow design.
  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes (preferably RKE2/Rancher), including pod/application management and troubleshooting.
  • Proven background managing Ceph storage solutions in production environments.
  • Experience with Linux-based systems administration and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Helm).
  • Ability to work in high-pressure environments with rapid issue resolution requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication/documentation abilities.
  • Willingness to provide after-hours and on-call support.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in enterprise or government environments with mission-critical systems.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK stack).
  • Understanding of network protocols, firewalls, and security best practices.
Work Location & Availability:
  • Fort Meade, MD
  • On-site only — telework is not available. Participation in an on-call rotation is required.
Clearance Requirement:
  • Candidates must have an active TS/SCI security clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph
