Location: McLean, VA

The Advanced Programs Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining a customer support network of workstations, servers, and telecommunications devices in a security sensitive environment.  This network is also expanding capability and usage into a cloud environment and must adhere to strict compliance directives for operation.  This position requires independent judgment and discretion, as well as the identification, analysis, maintenance and resolution of IT-related matters. 

 

 

What you’ ll do 

 

• Installing new software releases, performing system upgrades, evaluating and installing patches and lead troubleshooting of issues 

• Maintaining connectivity and availability of systems for users 

• Supports, designs, implements, and monitors desktop & server technologies 

• Daily system administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring functions for all parts of the system infrastructure. 

• Works on critical infrastructure related projects and troubleshoots performance issues and provides design and architecture input for future operating configurations and upgrades

• Utilize extensive experience in Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policies 

• Implement and maintain virtualized remote desktop servers and clients for Windows 10

• Maintain Linux/CentOS/DNS/email server infrastructure 

• Ensure that information security requirements, including necessary security controls, are effectively integrated into the enterprise architecture 

• Support vulnerability assessments and security test and evaluation 

• Assist with the initiation of protective and corrective measures when a security incident or vulnerability is identified; ensure IS security incidents are handled in accordance with established procedures 

 

What you need to succeed 

 

• Bachelor’ s degree or higher preferred, in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or other related technical disciplines 

• 3 – 5 year’ s prior administration experience in support of the Federal government 

• Active security certifications, such as CISSP or equivalent (CISM, GCED, CASP, GSLC, etc.) are required

• Experience with government A&A practices and policies, particularly NIST800-53 and ICD 503 

• Experience with A&A tools and processes highly desired, such as XACTA 

• Ability to work independently, collaborating closely with Application Developers, Software Engineers and others 

• Superior communication, written, and organizational skills – ability to effectively document A&A processes, attention to detail, and proven track record of maintain highest standards of quality
