Responsibilities:
  • Rapidly design, prototype and productize complex servo controlled systems
  • Ensure that designs have been fully validated and meet necessary system specifications, performance, and costing requirements
  • Complete sustaining engineering projects and aid production in trouble shooting with root cause analysis
  • Develop, track, and communicate status on concurrent running projects
  • Work closely in conjunction with electrical design team on new product development
  • Generate and process Engineering Request, prepare Design History File documentation, and follow design control procedures
  • Support manufacturing with MRP/ERP generated Bills of Materials, Drawings, and Assembly Documentation

Job and Skill Requirements:
  • BSME minimum, or equivalent
  • 3yrs experience in similar role with a minimum of 5+ years overall experience
  • Lead responsibilities on mechanical development projects or sub-projects, including the packaging of motors and electronics including wire routing
  • Strong experience with Solidworks sheet metal, weldment, plastic enclosures and FEA
  • Limited AutoCad work required primarily for legacy systems and support
  • Finite Element Analysis of systems and components
  • Design experience using various fabrication techniques including precision machining, welding, sheet metal forming, plastics (grown and/or molded) and adhesives.
  • Take an active role in managing the sourcing of components and sub-assemblies including process evaluation, vendor sourcing and managing prototype builds.
  • Participate in review meetings with partners/customers representing design tasks
  • Design, build, test prototype systems and/or sub modules
  • Develop assembly or alignment methods and fixtures
  • Knowledge of the FDA and ISO regulatory requirements
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in generating structured Documentation for Hardware, Design Test Procedures, Verification, Validation and Work Instructions
  • Perform product design, development and quality improvements
  • Familiarity with root cause Failure Analysis techniques
  • Must love to work fast with limited direction with considerable latitude for achieving results
  • Comfortable with communicating information to other team members with a variety of skill sets
  • Desire to work as a team to achieve success
