Sr. Machinist - Multiple Shifts

Job Description

Kavaliro is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for our local Jacksonville client to operate multiple production machines, with a focus on Okuma multi-axis lathes, Okuma mills, and HAAS 5-axis mills. This role involves interpreting blueprints, route sheets, and sketches while playing an active role in lean manufacturing initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and cutting costs. You’ll work with moderate supervision as part of a collaborative team.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC machinery to perform various tasks including cutting, shaping, deburring, drilling, reaming, and forming pre-planned parts.
  • Adjust machine settings and report issues related to machine performance or tooling.
  • Execute close-tolerance operations such as tapping, countersinking, chamfering, and counterboring.
  • Secure components using standard fixtures and proven setups.
  • Optimize feeds, speeds, and cutting depths to ensure high-quality production.
  • Perform deburring and finishing tasks on both simple and complex components.
  • Inspect parts using precision measurement tools to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Utilize magnification tools to detect surface flaws and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to uphold reliability and accuracy.
  • Record and interpret data through Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems in accordance with division protocols.
  • Participate in lean and continuous improvement activities by suggesting and implementing enhancements.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies, keeping the work area clean and organized.
  • Take on additional duties as needed.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of CNC machining experience required; hands-on experience with Okuma and Haas equipment strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and technical documentation.
  • Solid understanding of machining math, including trigonometry.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to lean and continuous improvement practices.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Comfortable using job-specific software, including employee self-service tools and production systems (e.g., PMR, TORS, email).
  • Actively participates in performance reviews, goal-setting, and personal development.
