Job Description


Kavaliro is looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our innovative IT team. This role is crucial in advancing our IT modernization and automation efforts, including upgrading, installing, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft systems using technologies like Kubernetes and Azure automation. You’ll work closely with our IT team and managed Security Operations Center (SOC), help develop user training programs, and ensure our system infrastructure is strong across the organization and with our parent company.


What You'll Bring
  • Deep expertise in Kubernetes, Azure, and automation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of IT modernization and cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience with security tools like Proofpoint, Abnormal Security, Umbrella, and Sentinel One.
  • Familiarity with IT frameworks such as disaster recovery, incident management, and change management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
  • Understanding of cloud security and experience in securing cloud environments (e.g., Azure).
  • Solid Windows knowledge and troubleshooting skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular system audits, identify vulnerabilities, and implement remediation strategies.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to strengthen security infrastructure and improve incident response.
  • Provide expert support for resolving system issues and security breaches.
  • Stay current with the latest IT and security trends and technologies.
  • Report regularly on the status of the IT environment to management.
  • Work on day-to-day operations, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft systems.
  • Engage in technical research and development to support ongoing infrastructure innovation.
  • Handle tasks like server management, active directory administration, software installation, and imaging.
  • Manage Baker’s cloud and on-prem environments, including server technology forecasting and disaster recovery planning.
  • Monitor patch compliance and manage alerts from mail security and EDR systems.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for system configurations, procedures, and service records.
  • Troubleshoot issues with Windows networks, storage, applications, and hyper-converged platforms.
  • Collaborate with external managed service providers.
  • Participate in technical planning meetings and task coordination.

Education and Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field is preferred, but hands-on experience is highly valued. Candidates with extensive industry experience in cybersecurity and security tool administration will be considered even without a formal degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience in IT security administration, Windows System Administration, or similar roles.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Kubernetes, Azure, CISSP, CISM) are a plus.
  • Proficiency with O365, Azure Stack HCI, and/or Hyper-V Systems.
  • Understanding of Privilege Access Management and its administration.

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed documentation for security systems and incident response plans.
  • Experience with scripting or programming (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) to automate tasks and analyze data.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements like GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOX.
  • Strong crisis management skills and the ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and staying ahead of industry trends.
  • Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to balance costs and benefits.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments to ensure best practices are followed throughout the organization.
  • Leadership skills, including mentoring and guiding junior team members.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • The role requires working in an office environment.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, or crawl for extended periods.
  • Prolonged use of a computer keyboard, monitor, and RF scanner.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
