MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the lead for assigned client relationships and manage ongoing communication;
Prepare and review a wide range of tax returns, including 1040, 11120, and 1065;
Manage client projects, office workflows, and internal team assignments;
Support and collaborate with the team on various tax and accounting projects;
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, including proactive tax and estate planning;
Prepare and review accounting activities for assigned clients;
Identify additional client service needs and communicate updates effectively;
Actively contribute to company advisory service offerings and initiatives;
Participate in billing, WIP analysis, and firm programs such as the Coaching Program;
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information;
Train and mentor team members and promote process improvement;
Attend occasional same-day travel to client offices and meetings;
Extended hours may be required during tax season;
Other duties as assigned;

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance;
CPA is highly desireable;
Experience in public accounting firm
5+ years of experience in a similar tax role;

Manage staff, assign tasks, and oversee workflow for valuation projects.
Direct work efforts to ensure quality and timely completion of deliverables.
Apply advanced valuation concepts and methodologies in engagements.
Review valuation models and reports for accuracy, ensuring they are nearly error-free.
Perform valuation and projection modeling, applying appropriate assumptions and calculations.
Analyze tax returns, financial statements, and other financial data to support valuation conclusions.
Utilize industry and market transaction resources to support valuation analyses.
Apply appropriate discount concepts, including lack of control and marketability, to valuations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Advanced understanding of valuation concepts and projection modeling.
Intermediate proficiency with QuickBooks and knowledge of various tax returns and financial statements.
Advanced proficiency with Excel, including complex formulas and modeling tools.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct errors in valuation work.
Basic understanding of discount concepts and holding company valuations.
Intermediate understanding of industry and market transaction resources.
Intermediate understanding of discount for lack of control and marketability.
Intermediate-level statistical analysis skills.
Strong writing skills with an ability to produce professional, accurate reports.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelorâs Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
At least one professional designation in valuation or forensic services (e.g., CVA, ABV, ASA, CBA, CFE, CFF).
Minimum of five yearsâ experience in valuation work.

Core Technical Skills
• General accounting knowledge â Understanding of accounting principles, debits/credits, and the AR process.
• Billing & collections experience â Hands-on experience generating invoices, applying payments, and managing past-due accounts.
• ERP/software proficiency â Familiarity with platforms like Waystar, Instamed, Availity, WellSky (our current billing system), or other EHR/EMR systems and comfort with Teams, Outlook, and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
• Payment identification â Ability to reconcile accounts and research unapplied or misapplied payments.
• Knowledge of aging reports â Experience working/monitoring AR aging and identifying collection priorities and denial or problematic trends.
• Experience with Home Health billing is a plus.

2. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
• Ability to identify discrepancies between invoices and payments.
• Strong reconciliation skills to resolve mismatched balances (for example, discrepancies in contractually agreed rates vs. true payments/contractuals).
• Comfort investigating chargebacks, short-pays, and customer disputes.

• Professional communication â Skilled in written and verbal communication with customers/patients, operations, and internal teams.
• Negotiation skills â Ability to tactfully collect overdue payments without damaging provider/payer relationships.
• Customer service orientation â Balances firmness in collections with maintaining positive relationships.

4. Attention to Detail & Organization
• Highly detail-oriented in working claim denials, disputes, or other claim related issues. Thorough with noting accounts and aging.
• Ability to manage high-volume AR without errors.
• Strong organizational skills to prioritize accounts based on aging or risk.

• Dependability â Cash flow depends on consistent follow-through.
• Persistence â Stays on top of overdue accounts while following company policies. Investigates accounts/claims thoroughly and willing to go the extra mile to collect payment.

6. Industry-Specific Knowledge - Healthcare
• Familiarity with insurance billing, denials, and EOBs.
• Some experience with contracting, or understanding contract language, Single Case Agreements, or Letters of Agreement.

• Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries via phone, email or chat.
• Resolve customer issues and complaints efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve complex issues.

DUTIES:

Responsible for all aspects of the account department.
Processing customer invoicing and other administrative duties.
Responsible for correctly processing and recording customer payments and checks on a regular.
Be a good communicator to work with the customers and get payment for overdue invoices.
Have the know how to use relevant software programs for processing invoices and recording data; they also should know how to resolve discrepancies related to invoices.
Ability to answer phone calls in a friendly and professional manner.
Perform any back-up duties as needed with the accounting team and be able to support that team with project-based assignments.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of a high school degree
2+ years of accounting experience.
Must have medical billing and collections experience.
Have strong customer service skills and must be able to form good relationships with their customers.
Ability to work independently and be skilled in basic computer software (such as the Microsoft Office suite).
A bachelor's degree in accounting may be preferred.
